
The information you know regarding the divorce, dissolution, or annulment will determine how to obtain a copy of at least one of the decree absolute or final orders.
If you are knowledgeable of the case number and the court, you can proceed.
If you are also knowledgeable of both the case number and the court, it will cost you £10.
Include these certain following information in an email or letter to the court:
- your name and contact information
- the case reference number
- How would you like to pay?
After the court receives your money, you’ll receive a copy within a week.
Pay the decree with a check or a postal order.
Make your check or postal order payable to “HM Courts & Tribunals Service” and mail it to the court.

In your email or letter, provide your phone number. You will be summoned by the court to make your payment.

You can approach the court that issued the decree absolute or final order to search their records if you know which one it was. The cost of a 10-year search is £45.
Provide the court with the date you believe the case occurred. The court will look through records for the previous five years on both sides of that date.
If you cannot provide a date, the court will search the previous ten years of documents.

You might request that the Central Family Court look for an absolute or final decree.
Please fill out form D440 and mail it to the address provided. It costs £65 to search for over ten years.
